Nov. 28, 2011 - First Cluster Clinics a Success...

The CBHA held its first set of cluster clinics, Steps 1 and 2 of the trim certification program for their registered students. The first day of clinics commenced with a meet and greet followed by extensive lecturing and presentations on equine nutrition & lifestyle, horse and hoof health, disease and pathology and its relation to hoof care.

The second day of clinics was spent on in depth nutrition topics, such as feeding recommendations based on the NRC's daily nutritional requirements for horses, hay analysis and mineral balancing as well as in depth information on diet related illness such as IR, Cushing's, Equine Metabolic Syndrome, EPSM, Ulcers, Laminitis/Founder among many other topics. The afternoon on the second day was spent on cadaver trimming, learning the basics of trimming to the CBHA guidelines.

The CBHA would like to thank everyone who volunteered their time to help make the event go as smoothly as it did! In particular we would like to extend a warm thank you to Karen White for generously hosting our event in her husband's "MAN CAVE"! Thanks so much Karen, the location was perfect for the first clinic event. As well the CBHA would like to thank Dr. Robert Lees, D.V.M. for his time. His extensive knowledge and expertise in horse health is highly appreciated at these clinics!

CBHA's Anne Riddell and a few very generous volunteers (Candyce McCann & Bonnie Farrell) will be at the Erin Fall Fair in Erin, Ontario this weekend with a booth, some lectures and demo trimming! We are raffling off 3 buckets of Phatman Horse Minerals and a pair of Cavallo Horse Boots! The CBHA thanks our generous sponsors for the event! Hope to see you all there. Can Am for 2011 was a great success for the CBHA...

The CBHA thanks it's supporters for the Can-Am event which helped make the CBHA's debut a great success. Being a non-profit entity, we would not have made it to Can-Am for the second year without their generous support! One last time, we would sincerely like to thank Cavallo, Ontario Dehy Inc., and Equine Innovations for their generosity. Please click on their logos to visit their websites.

The CBHA was able to carry out 3 days of seminars on natural hoof and horse care principles, nutrition and lifestyle management techniques as well as other important information on the latest in research. All seminars were well attended and well received! It was also a great venue for the CBHA to make strategic connections with various industry professionals, media and product related companies that are in line with what the CBHA endevours to represent.

The CBHA will be going to Can-Am All Breeds Equine Emporium for the 2nd year in a row - March 18-20th, 2011...

Last year CBHA had the privilege to participate in Canada's largest Equine education/recognition event which runs annually in London, Ontario. With ongoing clinics, seminars, demonstrations and an extremely large tradeshow Carolyn Myre, Anne Riddell and Catherine Larose (3 repesentatives from the CBHA) were on their feet for 3 days with their booth and with lectures. According to Can-Am officials, over 12, 000 people passed through the event last year. The CBHA's booth was swarmed with people interested in cutting edge barefoot principles, booting accessories etc.

The CBHA has been invited to speak 3 days of the event for 2011 with a Q&A forum on the 3rd day, the times will be posted on the Can-Am website shortly. As well, again CBHA will have a booth which was ever-so generously sponsored by Ontario Dehy, (makers of safer horse feeds), Cavallo Inc. (Canadian manufactures of the Cavallo Horse Boot), The Hoof Jack and Bakers Harness. The CBHA will have product samples available to see and purchase from all of our wonderful sponsors. The CBHA uses and recommends these products and is delighted to have them on display at the booth.

At the booth you can find information on how to take your horse barefoot, you can see accessories such as boots and boot accessories and learn about the CBHA and its barefoot training certification program. You can see the educational hoof capsules the CBHA uses in its training program and look at photos of various case studies of the CP's from the CBHA. If you are planning to hit the Can-Am event grounds this year please stop by the CBHA booth and see us, we would love to chat with you!

April 8, 2010 - CBHA Program Taking Shape

While we are still frantically busy completing details for the CBHA certification curriculum, we would like to announce that we are making great progress. The Orientation cluster clinic material is nearly complete and we anticipate being able to launch clinic dates and locations for that in late summer or fall of 2010 or perhaps sooner, we will update as soon as the details have been confirmed.

Other elements of the program are still being worked on as well as aspects of this website, we hope to have further updates for you in the near shortly.

March 19-21st, 2010 CBHA went to Can-Am...

The annual Can-Am Equine Emporium took place in its usual spot at the London fair grounds in Ontario from March 19th-21st.

This was the CBHA's first time participating in Can-Am and it ended up a complete success. The CBHA participated in the Equine Trade Fair as well as having given two informational outreach presentations.

Friday was busier than we all thought it would be and Saturday according to Can-Am media was the biggest turnout yet with over 12,000 people attending!

The event was a great opportunity for members of the CBHA to network with other businesses which offer supplies and services that enhance the natural lifestyle of domestic horses. We discovered new non-toxic thrush and rainrot remedies, learned about how properly formulated probiotics works in concert to help minimize the triggering factors for both colic and laminitis and much more.

We were also honoured to liaise with Redstone Media Group which produces one of our favorite magazines known as Equine Wellness. If you haven't already seen this magazine please visit their website at www.equinewellnessmagazine.com it is a wonderful magazine which encompasses everything natural to do with horses!

On behalf of everyone at the CBHA, we would like to thank the co-ordinators of Can-Am as well as the horseowners and hoof care practitioners who came to our booth whom engaged us in exciting conversations and helped make our participation a great success.

November 21, 2009 - CBHA Participates in the Everything Equine Trade Fair event at Kemptville College, Ontario

At right: Anne Riddell, Catherine Larose and Carolyn Myre in front of the CBHA's trade fair booth:

Despite finding out late about the Everything Equine Event at Kemptville College, the CBHA found a spot in the trade fair event and was able to set up a booth in a relatively short time span! The event turned out to be a huge success with three of our Board Members present, there was non-stop chat about the Organization's formation, and its certification and general member programs that encompass the natural horse and hoof care principles it promotes.

We would like to express our thanks to everyone whom visited our booth and engaged us in interesting stories and conversation, we never sat down that day and we feel the day was a great opportunity for the CBHA to gain exposure to the general public in the Eastern Ontario region.

July 18, 2009 - Maple Valley Club & CBHA Presented it's first fundraising event..

In picturesque Penetanguishene, Ontario, CBHA proudly held their first fundraising event which was hosted by the Maple Valley Sports Club. The event was a big success and included a variety of activities for participants including a once in a lifetime trail ride which consisted of 2 breathtaking rides with spectacular views that toured through some local farms along Georgian Bay and the Collingwood Mountains.

Among other things, the day also provided a silent auction, barbecue lunch, natural horse and hoof care symposium, live demos by Certified Bowen & EMRT Practitioner, Sophie Vertigan (pictured at right) as well as a beautiful display of barefoot treeless saddles and tack by Sue and Mike Downing of Fivewindz Tack. The weather miraculously held up so everyone could fully enjoy the ride.

We at the CBHA would like to express our sincere and deepest gratitude to all of the participants and sponsors of this event! Without your support we would not be able to forge ahead and evolve into a nation-wide community engaged in the care and welfare of Canada's naturally kept, barefoot domestic horses. For further information on this past event and the list of event sponsors please click here MVC/CBHA Fundraiser.

For more information on Bowen Therapy and EMRT (Equine Muscle Release Therapy) please visit: www.bowtech.com and www.emrt.eques.com.au

We look forward to many more community events in the near future, with possibly a fall ride in the works for the same area, which the participants of the July event have requested.
